“THE CHRIST SHOULD SUFFER!”

 Luke 24:25-27                    (ESV)

[25] And HE (JESUS) said to them, “O foolish ones, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken! [26] WAS IS NOT NECESSARY that “THE CHRIST SHOULD SUFFER” these things and enter into HIS glory?” [27] And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, HE interpreted to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning HIMSELF.”

JESUS, the CHRIST made an unexpected and certainly an unannounced appearance to Cleopas (Luke 24:18) and another follower of THE WAY on the road to Emmaus.  To my knowledge, there wasn’t a strong indication that Cleopas had a strong enough FAITH to make a visit from JESUS after HE had been crucified?  He was CHOSEN, along with a friend, to have THE CHRIST walk casually on the road to Emmaus with them and discuss the events of the previous days.  But why???

Why did JESUS even come to earth to pay the unimaginable price for my salvation?  Of course, I wasn’t the only one who needed SALVATION!  We ALL require a SAVIOR!!  We need a SAVIOR because GOD is too pure to tolerate sinfulness, as is stated in Habakkuk 1:13!  

WAS IT NOT NECESSARY for GOD IN THE FLESH to SUFFER through HIS EARTHLY ministry??  “THE CHRIST SHOULD SUFFER” was a sacrifice that ONLY JESUS could satisfy.  Humanity’s ONLY HOPE of spending eternity with GOD was to have our sins COVERED BY THE BLOOD of our LORD and SAVIOR!  My wickedness was ONLY PAID for by having the SON of GOD be offered as a PERFECT SACRIFICE!!!  Cleopas wasn’t the only person whose EYES were OPENED to SEE that “THE CHRIST SHOULD SUFFER” is THE ONLY WAY any of us can gain ETERNAL LIFE!!!
