“FEAR NOT!”

Genesis 15:1-6                                      (ESV)

“1 After these things THE WORD of the LORD came to Abram in a vision: "FEAR NOT”, Abram, I AM YOUR SHIELD; YOUR REWARD SHALL BE VERY GREAT."

2 But Abram said, "O LORD GOD, what will YOU give me, for I continue childless, and the heir of my house is Eliezer of Damascus?"

3 And Abram said, "Behold, you have given me no offspring, and a member of my household will be my heir."

4 And behold, the word of the LORD came to him: "This man shall not be your heir; your very own son shall be your heir."

5 And HE brought him outside and said, "Look toward heaven, and number the stars, if you are able to number them." Then HE said to him, "So shall your offspring be."

6 And he (Abram) believed the LORD, and HE (GOD) COUNTED IT TO HIM AS RIGHTEOUSNESS.”

Genesis 15:6 is only one of the favorites of mine in the HOLY BIBLE.  Abraham (as he was known after Genesis 17:5) was “worried” that he had no offspring, no one to carry on his legacy.  GOD KNEW that Abram had FEAR of not having children.  There was no sense in Abram attempting to hide it!  GOD told Abram to “FEAR NOT”, that his REWARD SHALL BE VERY GREAT, without Abram ever mentioning to GOD that he had no children........YET!  

Abraham was 100 years old when Sarah bore Issac, the Promised child of GOD.  Sarah was beyond child bearing years, but nothing shall be impossible with GOD!  The Promise of GOD will NOT be forgotten, especially if we are beyond doing it ourselves.  GOD doesn’t require us to help HIM deliver on HIS Promises, as a matter of fact, in Exodus 14:14 HE tells Moses “The LORD will fight for you, and YOU HAVE ONLY TO BE SILENT”!!!  GOD delivered HIS Children from what appeared to be certain doom with NO HELP from anyone!

Humans have a misconception that we HAVE to do our part in order for GOD to do HIS part?  But GOD didn’t have help from humans when HE Created the universes.  GOD didn’t have help when HE raised JESUS from the dead!  GOD is GOD and nothing we can do can diminish HIS GLORY!  

As GOD is the ruler of everything, and HE has EVERYTHING within HIS POWER, we should NEVER “FEAR”, because HE IS IN CONTROL!  Abram was instructed to “FEAR NOT” by his CREATOR because ALMIGHTY GOD had a Plan.  HIS PLAN is still being fulfilled.  Just because we don’t understand why, our we can’t contribute to the outcome, we must “FEAR NOT” or we exhibit DOUBT!  Genesis 15:6 says Abram BELIEVED THE LORD, and the LORD counted his Belief as RIGHTEOUSNESS.  In all of the confusion and turmoil that is besetting currently “this world”, I will “FEAR NOT”, for HIS PLAN is one day closer to being fulfilled!!!
