"JESUS ONLY!"

Mark 9:2-8                         (ESV)
"2 And after six days JESUS took with HIM Peter and James and John, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. And HE  was transfigured before them,
3 and HIS clothes became radiant, intensely white, as no one on earth could bleach them.
4 And there appeared to them Elijah with Moses, and they were talking with JESUS.
5 And Peter said to JESUS, "Rabbi, it is good that we are here. Let us make three tents, one for YOU and one for Moses and one for Elijah."
6 For he did not know what to say, for they were terrified.
7 And a cloud overshadowed them, and a voice came out of the cloud, "This is my beloved SON; listen to HIM."
8 And suddenly, looking around, they no longer saw anyone with them but "JESUS ONLY"."

There are many, MANY questions about the TRANSFIGURATION that I would love to have answered, and I will one glorious day!  Until then, why did only three disciples get chosen to be with JESUS for the Transfiguration?  Even though the three were chosen by JESUS to be present at this monumental occasion, why didn't any of them understand what was going on, as verse six says "for they were terrified"!  And why did GOD tell them "This is my beloved SON; listen to HIM?"  Those are just a few things I would like to know.

You have to understand that GOD has a Plan, and that NOTHING happens out of chance or circumstance.  GOD may have CHOSEN Peter, James and John to be present because having more disciples may have seemed almost "too perfect" for skeptics to believe?  JESUS (GOD in the Flesh) could have actually played favorites as HE CHOSE me out of the depths (Psalms 130:1) of sin to select to be a Believer?  HE could have CHOSEN someone more eloquent in speech, more wealthy, more educated, more socially connected, and more intellectually astute, but HE chose me???

But there is hope for all of us, as it seems GOD has a tendency to choose the "lessers" of society to do HIS work because folks will SEE "JESUS ONLY" when they observe the work that HE performs from people of less stature?!?  While HE does use those who "seem" to have everything "worked out" in their lives, usually it only "seems" things are "worked out"!  Even the Apostle Paul was given a "thorn in the flesh" (2 Corinthians 12:7-10) to keep him from becoming conceited.  When my life is examined, either after I am departed or before, I pray that people will be able to see "JESUS ONLY" in my accomplishments!
