“HAVE FAITH IN GOD!”

 Mark 11:20-24                      (ESV)

“[20] As they passed by in the morning, they saw the fig tree withered away to its roots. [21] And Peter remembered and said to HIM, “Rabbi, look! The fig tree that you cursed has withered.” [22] And JESUS answered them, “”HAVE FAITH IN GOD”. [23] Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and DOES NOT DOUBT in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him. [24] Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, BELIEVE that you have received it, and IT WILL be yours.”

How many times have we experienced GOD working in a way that the human mind is incapable of “BELIEVING” that GOD orchestrated things LIKE HE DID???  My “HIS-STORY” regarding the Neurologist that GOD used to save my life almost 14 years ago is a PRIME example.  Having the Neurologist come to Texarkana was something that was hard to BELIEVE, but that GOD used me to write a recommendation letter almost five years before I needed him was truly GOD working “things” for HIS GOOD (Romans 8:28)!  Therefore, I KNOW that GOD is capable of miraculous feats and nothing should surprise me!

These disciples were simply following JESUS one morning, a morning following JESUS cursing this fig tree for not having any fruit.  JESUS said in Mark 11:14 “And HE said to it, “May no one ever eat fruit from you again.” And his disciples heard it.”  HIS disciples heard THE CREATOR say that no one would eat fruit again from the fig tree, but hearing apparently WASN’T Believing!  The NEXT DAY the tree was withering.

Growing THE FAITH of HIS followers was the purpose of the actions of JESUS.  In Romans 4:20 Scripture records that “..he grew strong in his FAITH as he gave Glory to GOD.”  He had to experience GOD delivering when there was no guarantee that HE would, other than HIS PROMISE!

One of my favorite sayings is “there aren’t any coincidences”!  Romans 8:28 tells us that “ALL THINGS work together for good, for those who are called according to HIS purpose“!  When GOD makes us wait, HIS purpose is increasing our FAITH, but it also is drawing GLORY to HIMSELF.  “HAVE FAITH IN GOD” isn’t just the name of a hymn, it is a way of life that HE is working in my life!!!
