Isaiah 28:23-24 (ESV)
“[23] Give ear, and hear my voice;
“GIVE ATTENTION”, and hear my speech.
[24] Does he who plows for sowing plow continually?
Does he continually open and harrow his ground?”
In order to HEAR from GOD, we are required to “GIVE ATTENTION” to HIM. We cannot simply run to the throne room and drop a list of requests and expect all of them to be answered before we make it back to talk again.
Isaiah 28:23-24 in the King James Version says it this way, “Give ye ear, and hear my voice; HEARKEN, and hear my speech. Doth the plowman plow all day to sow? doth he open and break the clods of his ground?” HEARKEN is defined as “to give heed or attention to what is said; listen”! If the CREATOR OF THE UNIVERSES was wanting to give us directions about how to live our lives, doesn’t it make sense that we should LISTEN INTENTLY?
“The god of this world” (2 Corinthians 4:4) is the master of deception (Genesis 3:1) so we must “be watchful” (1 Peter 5:8) what we are hearing. We cannot “GIVE ATTENTION” to JESUS if we are listening to our adversary!!!
