“PLEASE SHOW ME YOUR WAYS!”

Exodus 33:12-18                              (ESV)

“12 Moses said to the LORD, "See, YOU say to me, 'Bring up this people,' but YOU have not let me know whom YOU will send with me. Yet YOU have said, 'I know you by name, and you have also found favor in MY sight.'

13 Now therefore, if I have found favor in your sight, “PLEASE SHOW ME NOW YOUR WAYS”, that I may know YOU in order to find favor in YOUR sight. Consider too that this nation is YOUR people."

14 And he said, "MY presence will go with you, and I will give you rest."

15 And he said to HIM, "If YOUR presence will not go with me, do not bring us up from here.

16 For how shall it be known that I have found favor in YOUR sight, I and YOUR people? Is it not in YOUR going with us, so that we are distinct, I and YOUR people, from every other people on the face of the earth?"

17 And the LORD said to Moses, "This very thing that you have spoken I will do, for you have found favor in MY sight, and I know you by name."

18 Moses said, "Please show me YOUR glory." 

“Please show me YOUR glory” is an important sentence to begin this study with.   Moses was about to get to see GOD, our CREATOR, pass before him.  The event caused Moses to glow so much that his face “shone” for an extended period of time.  But Moses was BEGGING the LORD to “PLEASE SHOW ME NOW YOUR WAYS” so the people would know that GOD was speaking through him, not just Moses saying what he wanted.   

Proclaiming what we want to say can be awfully easy, especially when we THINK we know what is best.  However, when we compare what ALMIGHTY GOD has Planned for us to what we THINK we want, what HE has in our future ALWAYS overshadows what we THOUGHT would be best.  We don’t know, because we AREN’T GOD!  

“PLEASE SHOW ME NOW YOUR WAYS” is a testament of how much we really need HIM and HIS guidance.  It is like we have to have GOD to breath (Isaiah 42:5)!  HE “gives” us the breath we breath, we just don’t decide we want to take it!  “PLEASE SHOW ME YOUR WAYS” is an admission that we don’t know what/where/when to do anything without HIS Guidance!  

When will I realize that I am NOTHING without HIS direction and sustenance?  LORD, “PLEASE SHOW ME YOUR WAYS” so I will do precisely what YOU have planned for my life, and nothing more.
