Numbers 14:13-23 (ESV)
“13 But Moses said to the LORD, "Then the Egyptians will hear of it, for YOU brought up this people in YOUR might from among them,
14 and they will tell the inhabitants of this land. They have heard that YOU, O LORD, are in the midst of this people. For YOU, O LORD, are seen face to face, and YOUR cloud stands over them and YOU go before them, in a pillar of cloud by day and in a pillar of fire by night.
15 Now if YOU kill this people as one man, then the nations who have heard YOUR fame will say,
16 'It is because the LORD was not able to bring this people into the land that HE swore to give to them that HE has killed them in the wilderness.'
17 And now, please let the power of the LORD be great as YOU have promised, saying,
18 'The LORD is slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love, forgiving iniquity and transgression, but he will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, to the third and the fourth generation.'
19 Please pardon the iniquity of this people, according to the greatness of YOUR steadfast love, just as YOU have forgiven this people, from Egypt until now."
20 Then the LORD said, "I have pardoned, according to your word.
21 But truly, as I live, and as all the earth shall be filled with the glory of the LORD,
22 none of the men who have seen “MY GLORY AND MY SIGNS THAT I DID” in Egypt and in the wilderness, and yet have put ME to the test these ten times and have not obeyed MY VOICE,
23 shall see the land that I swore to give to their fathers. And none of those who despised ME shall see it.”
There are times that I have to be reminded of the MIRACLES GOD has performed in my life because trials become so seemingly impossible! It is NO COINCIDENCE that my medical records have a statement from a physician “However, he has had a remarkable recovery that could only be defined as a MIRACLE FROM GOD”! And how many times has someone heard of my journey and said “GOD is not through with you yet”? Yes, it has been over 13 years, but these reminders are saved on my computers, readily available for others to see as a testimony, but also for me to see when “the enemy” tries to tell me that I am anything except what GOD says that I am!
Can’t you imagine how GOD must have been tired of the children of Israel whining and crying about their existence outside of the captivity of Egypt? 430 years (Exodus 12:40) was a long time to forget, yet the Israelites weren’t even to the Red Sea before they were begging to go back to slavery! “The enemy” was doing his best to sell them the lie that it was better to be enslaved than to die in the wilderness (Exodus 14:12)!
Do I act similar to the Israelite people? Whenever I get in “a jam” do I begin to whine and cry about my predicament? With what do I compare my predicament? In 2007, Brain Hemorrhage survivors were about 20% of total cases! Ten years later quadruple bypass surgery was performed on the 56 year old man that I had become, and the recovery was remarkable! Three weeks from the day of the surgery I was completely released by the surgeon! No Rehab, no major medication changes, just a “everything is looking great” as he dismissed me completely!
When I am faced with difficulties in life, my first memory needs to be about where GOD has brought me from, not where HE has me temporarily parked. Contemplating where I might have been can QUICKLY adjust my attitude! Remembering the trials that I have experienced causes me to COUNT MY MANY BLESSINGS, NAME THEM ONE BY ONE! “MY GLORY AND MY SIGNS THAT I DID” for this child of GOD is something that I should never allow to be minimized!!
