“FAR MORE ABUNDANTLY!”

 Ephesians 3:14-21                                      (ESV)

Prayer for Spiritual Strength

“[14] For this reason I bow my knees before the FATHER, [15] from WHOM every family in heaven and on earth is named, [16] that according to the riches of HIS Glory HE may grant you to be strengthened with power through HIS SPIRIT in your inner being, [17] so that CHRIST may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, [18] may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, [19] and to know the love of CHRIST that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of GOD.

[20] Now to HIM WHO IS ABLE TO DO “FAR MORE ABUNDANTLY” THAN ALL WE ASK OR THINK, according to the POWER at work within us, [21] to HIM be Glory in the church and in CHRIST JESUS throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.”

The Children of Israel had been in Egypt for 430 years when ALMIGHTY GOD came to them through Moses and told them they were going to the Promised Land!  In contrast, the United States was formed over 245 years ago.  The Children of Israel probably couldn’t fathom what freedom from captivity was going to be like.  Exodus 3:9 states “And now, behold, the cry of the people of Israel has come to ME, and I have also seen the oppression with which the Egyptians oppress them”! 

CAPTIVITY is a brutal word that isn’t fully known or understood, especially to we who have been sheltered in the Constitutional Republic called the United States of America.  Our FREEDOM was so greatly appreciated coming from the control and heavy handiness of the so-called “royalty” of English rule.  When the tyranny of this ruling class became too great, the patriots were led by ALMIGHTY GOD HIMSELF to establish a nation where HE was the RULER!  Never in the patriots wildest dreams could they have imagined was ahead in the next 245 years!

When we elect to surrender to the leadership of HIS HOLY SPIRIT we are unable to grasp all GOD has in store for us.  But we mustn’t get the cart before the horse, we have to put “I bow my knees before the FATHER” before we will get BLESSED “FAR MORE ABUNDANTLY” by HIM.  Even we who seek HIM daily have to be reminded that fellowship with OUR CREATOR is worth FAR MORE than anything we can imagine.  Wealth, fame, health, possessions are not worth having unless we have the PEACE that only comes through JESUS!

“FAR MORE ABUNDANTLY” can be subjective.  But when we SEE that ALMIGHTY GOD is ABLE TO DO “FAR MORE ABUNDANTLY” THAN ALL WE ASK OR THINK, according to the POWER at work within us, that means we are incapable of limiting the scope of what GOD is capable of doing.  

Just like the early American patriots, we have NO IDEA what GOD is able to do in and through the United States.  But we have to get on our knees first and not expect deliverance just because we ask.  Only when HE WHO IS ABLE sees our humility and reverence will we be able to SEE HIM work “FAR MORE ABUNDANTLY” for HIS GLORY!!!
