"THE WORD!"

John 1:1-5                             (KJV)
"1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not."

The first five verses of the Gospel of John never get old, at least for me. GOD always has been.  "The Word" (JESUS) was there "in the beginning".  "The Word" was with, and "The Word" WAS GOD!

Verse three says "ALL" things were made by HIM.  My belief is that things that are looked at as being evil were even made by HIM.  The "PRISM" through which somethings are viewed may help determine whether they are "good" things or "bad" things.  A gruesome fight with cancer can lead to an earthly healing, or it could lead to an ultimate healing!  Who are we to say things are "good" or "bad"?  In Exodus 14, GOD "hardened" Pharaoh's heart, and later Pharaoh and his army were consumed in the Red Sea.  The Red Sea has a different meaning for the Israelis than for the Egyptians!  It depends on which "PRISM" you are looking through.

I love the statement "In HIM was life".  JESUS gives life to "ALL" who will accept HIM.  JESUS said in John 10:10 "I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly."  The LIFE HE gives is the LIGHT for ALL mankind!  Without LIGHT, we are left in darkness.

Verse five states that The LIGHT (JESUS) shineth in darkness, but the darkness COMPREHENDED IT NOT.  It wasn't, or isn't, that the darkness could not hear the message.  They could not COMPREHEND the message. The word COMPREHEND means "to grasp with the mind; to understand the meaning of".

Some people, no matter how well-intentioned they are, just cannot grasp the fact that GOD LOVES THEM.  HE loved them so much, HE sent JESUS, who had been at HIS side since THE BEGINNING, to pay the price for the sins (the falling short of GOD's perfect glory) they (and I) have committed so that GOD can fellowship with us.  I too, find it difficult to justify why a pure and HOLY GOD would sacrifice HIS SON for a scumbag such as I.  I just have to have faith that HE is who HE said HE was, and leave everything else up to "THE WORD!"
