Isaiah 55:10-11 (ESV)
"10 "For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return there but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater,
11 so shall "MY WORD" be that goes out from MY mouth; it shall not return to ME empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it."
Reading has NEVER been one of my greatest interests! I always made good grades in reading in school, but it seemed I was always too much of a busy-body to sit down and read a book or anything longer than a brief newspaper article. On the other hand, I have acquaintances who could read lengthy novels without interruption.
The number of people however, that read the Holy Bible with any regularity continues to decline. This is evidenced by the lack of people KNOWING what is in HIS WORD. That people will face life's problems and difficulties without consulting The Creator of the Universes is similar to a dress maker attempting to repair a rocket ship. The dress maker has no training in rocket ship design, therefore would not be the one to consult should a problem arise with the rocket ship.
In our lives, we have an instruction manual called The Holy Bible that GOD gave us. GOD knew that we would have difficulties (Job 14:1; James 1:12; John 16:33; etc.....), but "HIS WORD" is a guide for us to follow. I am reminded of a man who has a roadmap in the glovebox of his car and is he lost for hours, but refuses to seek guidance from the roadmap? Finally his wife makes him look at the map, and within minutes they reach their destination.
Regardless of your thoughts of the him, former President Ronald Reagan is quoted as saying "Within the covers of the Bible are ALL the answers for ALL the problems men face!" We have the owners manual inspired by the Creator as a guide for our lives. HE has given "HIS WORD" for us to keep with us. Isn't it time we take it out of our glovebox and find out not only where we are, but where we are going???
