“DESPISED AND REJECTED!”

Isaiah 53:3-5                       (ESV)
3 HE was “DESPISED AND REJECTED” by men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief; and as one from whom men hide their faces HE was despised, and we esteemed HIM not.
4 Surely HE has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed HIM stricken, smitten by GOD, and afflicted.
5 But HE was pierced for our transgressions; HE was crushed for our iniquities; upon HIM was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with HIS wounds we are healed.”

There is a common misconception that when you are loved, you get everything you desire from the one who will loves you.  Using this false narrative, an infant could elect not to eat or drink when they actually needed nourishment and die of malnutrition because they didn’t know what was best for them.  Or possibly worse could be a spoiled child who was given everything they wanted, only to never know what it is like to experience rejection.  Sometimes we just aren’t mature enough to know what is best for us, especially in difficult times.

The LORD JESUS CHRIST experienced being “DESPISED AND REJECTED” by the very people HE Created; and yet HE humbled HIMSELF to come to earth, suffer a humiliating death, and overcome satan, hell, and the grave JUST FOR YOU AND I.  Just as important as HIS Sacrificial death and resurrection was, more so was HIM living a perfect life to offer as a substitute for my existence.

Isaiah 53 was reportedly written about 700 years prior to JESUS being born.  The word “Coincidence” doesn’t exist in GOD’s dictionary, so one has to accept that HE knew HIS SON would be “DESPISED AND REJECTED” when JESUS was creating us (Colossians 1:16).  Yet GOD loved us, even though HE knew beforehand that we “DESPISED AND REJECTED” HIM and HIS SON!

So since THE CREATOR OF THE UNIVERSES spoke “this world” into existence and breathed life into our bodies, why do I question why things don’t go my way?  HE alone is in control, and HE alone should be trusted for everything in our lives!  When we fail to place our TOTAL TRUST in HIM, aren’t we showing HIM that HE is “DESPISED AND REJECTED” once again by our unbelief???

Luke 18:13 “But the tax collector, standing far off, would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, 'GOD, be merciful to me, for I am a sinner!!!”
