“RAHAB and RUTH!”

 Matthew 1:5-6                         (ESV)

“[5] and Salmon the father of Boaz by “RAHAB”, and Boaz the father of Obed by “RUTH”, and Obed the father of Jesse, [6] and Jesse the father of David the king. 

And David was the father of Solomon by the wife of Uriah,”

It is understandable that Rahab might have been remembered as “Rahab the harlot” in the wall in the early chapters of the book of Joshua.  But Rahab had FAITH according to Hebrews 11:31!

On the other hand, Ruth was “of the women of Moab” (approximately where modern day Jordan is) who married Boaz (after her previous husband died) and gave birth to Obed, the grandfather of King David, “a man after GOD’S OWN heart”!!  Ruth wasn’t an Israeli, but she is listed in the lineage of JESUS because she was FAITHFUL!  

King David, King Solomon, Father Abraham are all a part of the the lineage of JESUS.  Likewise I am part of this LINEAGE as John 17:23 says “I (JESUS) in them and YOU (GOD THE FATHER) in ME (JESUS), that they (“those who will Believe in ME (John 17:20)) may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you sent ME and loved them even as YOU loved ME.”  

Just because we are poor, fatherless, with very little notoriety does not indicate that we aren’t going to be used by ALMIGHTY GOD to accomplish HIS PURPOSE!  “RAHAB” and RUTH” are mentioned in the above passage of Scripture to confirm that GOD uses “the least” for HIS GLORY!  “RUTH” was gathering “tares” that were left behind for the helpless, but GOD sent Boaz where he needed to be to SEE her!  

DO NOT BE DECEIVED (Galatians 6:7;James 1:16), GOD will use IMPERFECT people for HIS GLORY and to accomplish HIS PURPOSE!  “RAHAB” and RUTH” are wonderful examples that GOD isn’t limited by the thoughts and minds of mankind!!!
