“15 Do not love “THE WORLD” or the things in “THE WORLD”. If anyone loves “THE WORLD”, the love of the FATHER is not in him. 16 For all that is in “THE WORLD”—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life—-is not from the FATHER but is from “THE WORLD”. 17 And “THE WORLD” is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of GOD abides forever.”
What is it that you love more than GOD? Most of us would immediately say nothing! But what is there in our lives that consumes our thoughts, our minds, or our hearts desires? It doesn’t necessarily have to be “toys” either. Relationships can also be placed above our relationship with the LORD.
Anything that comes before GOD I our lives is in danger of becoming our gods. Even our time, when spent in nefarious endeavors, can be sinning against our GOD. We must be very careful not to allow the great deceiver to cloud our lives with “busy work” when GOD really desires us to “...O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your GOD?” (Micah 6:8).
In this holiday season, don’t allow yourself to be “deceived” into believing that giving presents is what it’s all about! “The enemy” is prowling about seeking whom he may “devour” (1 Peter 5:8) by doing good when we won’t even walk humbly with our GOD. Being Santa Claus may get us earthly praise, but are we ignoring the Spiritual needs of the people we are buying gifts for?
It is so very easy to get caught up in the things of “THE WORLD”. The great deceiver can make it so enticing, even making “sense”, that we FAIL to walk by FAITH! Romans 14:23b says “...For whatever does not proceed from faith is sin.” But in 1 Corinthians 15:57 it made clear “But thanks be to GOD WHO gives us the victory through our LORD JESUS CHRIST.” Living this life according to “THE WORLD” will never fulfill or satisfy. The “NEXT WORLD” should be our hearts desires!!!
