"A PROMISE YOU CAN BANK ON! "

2 Peter 3:8-10 KJV
"But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up."

When I was growing up, my grandfather would tell me "Boy, do I have to tell you everything"?  It would make me feel like I didn't know anything!  I am quite sure that was the intent of his statement.

The Apostle Peter may not have been trying to make his "beloved" feel like they didn't know anything.  He may have been trying to get across to his "beloved" that Judgement Day was coming!  It wasn't a matter of "IF", but it was "WHEN"!

GOD is not a mean spirited Being.  HE is waiting patiently for the last person to profess Christ as their personal Savior, and then HE will regrettably have to say "Son, go bring MY children Home"!  Those who remain will be "wailing and gnashing of teeth, but no relief will be forthcoming.  "In which the  heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat" is not a fable!  Neither is "The Lord is not slack concerning his promise".  One of these days, The LORD will come back.  That is A PROMISE YOU CAN BANK ON!
