"PUT HIM TO DEATH!"

Luke 22:1-6                                     (ESV)

"1 Now the Feast of Unleavened Bread drew near, which is called the Passover.

2 And the chief priests and the scribes were seeking how to "PUT HIM TO DEATH", for they feared the people.

3 Then Satan entered into Judas called Iscariot, who was of the number of the twelve.

4 He went away and conferred with the chief priests and officers how he might betray HIM to them.

5 And they were glad, and agreed to give him money.

6 So he consented and sought an opportunity to betray HIM to them in the absence of a crowd."

When we get to Heaven and we TOTALLY understand (SEE) the events surrounding the betrayal, death, and resurrection of JESUS CHRIST, maybe then we will grasp the infinity of HIS LOVE for mankind. The underworld (satan) was seeking to eradicate HIM, chief priests and scribes (upper class of Jews) were seeking to put HIM to death, and even one of HIS trusted disciples became part of the plot to get rid of JESUS.  "This world" did not want to deal with "the next world" because they knew "the next world" would end their ruling over "this world"!

Before I understood how GOD divinely planned for the redemption of my soul, I used to say that I wouldn't have allowed JESUS to be scourged and murdered on the cross of Calvary.  But even HIS closest friends, those HE had spent the past three years with, couldn't "SEE" GOD's Plan unfolding right before their eyes!  All they could "SEE" was JESUS was heading for a tremendous amount of trouble, and they didn't want to risk being a part of "PUTTING HIM TO DEATH" or joining HIM!

John 20:29 tells us "JESUS said to him (Thomas), "Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who HAVE NOT SEEN and YET HAVE BELIEVED."  We are a part of those who HAVE NOT SEEN!  However, just because we weren't present to help drive the nails that were used to mount JESUS on the cross, my sins and yours we what "PUT HIM TO DEATH"!  Don't be a part of the hierarchy of "the church" who boasts that we are not as bad as those sinners"!  It was the sins of ALL MANKIND that "PUT HIM TO DEATH", but only because of HIS LOVE!!!
