"ABOVE REPROACH!"

Titus 1:5-9                  (ESV)
"5 This is why I left you in Crete, so that you might put what remained into order, and appoint elders in every town as I directed you-
6 if anyone is above reproach, the husband of one wife, and his children are believers and not open to the charge of debauchery or insubordination.
7 For an overseer, as GOD's steward, must be "ABOVE REPROACH". He must not be arrogant or quick-tempered or a drunkard or violent or greedy for gain,
8 but hospitable, a lover of good, self-controlled, upright, holy, and disciplined.
9 He must hold firm to the trustworthy word as taught, so that he may be able to give instruction in sound doctrine and also to rebuke those who contradict it."




With all of the hoopla over which Presidential candidate to vote for and whether or not we should support or not support any of them, don't think that GOD isn't interested in who wins!  Being of the belief that GOD is in control of everything and HE will receive glory regardless of how men's hearts are in tune with HIM, I need to understand that when I give an account (Romans 14:12) of my actions to GOD and there ARE going to questions that ARE going to be answered, no matter how uncomfortable the answer may be!!

Although no political candidate is flawless, can you imagine standing before a HOLY GOD and answering why we supported a certain candidate over others running for office?  We have been given by GOD ALMIGHTY the privilege AND RESPONSIBILITY of selecting our leaders, but what are we basing our selection on!  Are we "vetting" their "testimony", how their lives are lived before public service, for that is a pretty good indication of how they will react afterwards!  Do we want a leader who has exhibited ungodly behavior in their past to be leading us in a Godly manner?  That would be similar to hiring a taxicab driver with 12 DWI's on their driving record!  We cannot abandon GOD and HIS Word or we risk operating outside of HIS protection (Exodus 13:21-22)!

Being "ABOVE REPROACH" is not an easy standard to meet for most of the people, but GOD always has someone available for selection IF WE SEARCH FOR THEM DILIGENTLY ENOUGH!  Examine each candidate according to what Titus 1:5-9 says before you support, endorse, or financially back a candidate.   Don't let what "this world" says about them determine whether or not you think they are a fit candidate.  Let GOD's Word determine if they are "ABOVE REPROACH" and trust in HIM for the results!

In closing, I offer you the final two verses of Ecclesiastes, written by King Solomon, the wisest man who ever lived (1 Kings 4:30)!  "The end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear GOD and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.  For GOD will BRING EVERY DEED into judgment, with every secret thing, whether good evil."  GOD tells us that HE will BRING EVERY DEED into judgement!  Do we believe HIS Word?  Will we continue trusting in our own knowledge, or will we seek leaders who are "ABOVE REPROACH" to guide us back to HIM???
