"RECEIVE MY WORDS!"

Proverbs 2:1-5                                   (ESV)
"1 My son, if you "RECEIVE MY WORDS" and treasure up MY commandments with you,
2 making YOUR EAR ATTENTIVE TO WISDOM and INCLINING YOUR HEART TO UNDERSTANDING;
3 yes, if you CALL OUT FOR INSIGHT and RAISE YOUR VOICE FOR UNDERSTANDING,
4 if you SEEK IT LIKE SILVER and SEARCH FOR IT AS HIDDEN TREASURES,
5 then you will UNDERSTAND the FEAR OF THE LORD and FIND THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOD."



The comment has been made from many a pulpit "People, you aren't listening quickly enough"!  Usually those words are heard when a preacher feels he is behind the time he should be in delivering the message.  Recently I wrote about BE STILL, AND KNOW THAT I AM GOD, but how many times can we LISTEN very attentively without BEING STILL?  Usually, when things are hectic and seemingly out of control, I can't hear a thing from the LORD, and I find myself, more and more, seeking a quiet place where I can seek HIS guidance.  HIS PEACE is irreplaceable, especially when you have been exposed to it for any length of time!

JESUS said in John 8:47 "Whoever is of GOD hears the words of GOD. The reason why you do not hear them is that you are not of GOD."  If you aren't hearing from GOD, there may be a reason?  Don't be frustrated by not hearing from GOD if you have not surrendered to HIS call.  Admit you are a wretched sinner (we ALL are) and beg for HIS mercy and grace to save your soul!  If you do, you won't live perfectly (only ONE has), but you WILL LIVE ETERNALLY!

The five verses above instructs us about hearing from GOD.  The probable author of the first 29 chapters of Proverbs was King Solomon, the wisest man who ever lived (1 Kings 4:30).  King Solomon wrote, beginning in Proverbs 2:1, a Message from GOD "if you "RECEIVE MY WORDS", in other words if you will listen attentively to MY words, THEN you will be blessed.  Not only was King Solomon the wisest who ever lived, he was reportedly the wealthiest man who ever lived.  Don't EVER think GOD cannot bless HIS children ABUNDANTLY, if it is within HIS Plan!  GOD granted WISDOM AND WEALTH, but Solomon was humble enough to know that it ALL came from GOD!

We can easily get caught up in the lie promulgated by the devil that monetary gain and business success is all that matters.  For me, hearing from GOD by "RECEIVING MY WORDS" is one of the best things that can happen to a person!  We must listen "ATTENTIVELY" at times, and for me, I have to BE STILL to hear from GOD MOST TIMES!!!
