“Finally, my
brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the WHOLE ARMOUR of God, that ye may
be able to STAND against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and
blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the
darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the WHOLE ARMOUR of
God, that ye may be able to withSTAND in the evil day, and having done all, to
STAND. STAND therefore, having
your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of
righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of
peace; above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able
to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.”
Both of my
son’s came home for Thanksgiving. My
younger son brought his “puppy” with him to play with our “puppies”! KIRA is a little past one year old. ROME and ECHO (my puppies) are over 4 years
old. For the first three to four hours they
were running around the yard, house, and other surroundings, as wild as could
be. After getting accustomed to each
other, the puppies finally calmed and were able to cohabitate without being sedated.
Humans seem
to have the same mentality. We seem to
be real excited and on fire to get something started, and when the NEW wears
off, we tend to lose our excitement about things. The need to learn to be a STEADY, CALMING
influence for a TROUBLED SOCIETY is one that is over-looked, EVEN IGNORED, due
to the pace we tend to live our lives.
The Apostle Paul
encourages us to prepare ourselves for the onslaught we are BOUND to be exposed
to, by putting on the WHOLE ARMOUR of GOD!
We are to girt (prepare oneself for battle) our loins with truth (BIBLE),
have a breastplate of righteousness (The righteousness of Christ), our feet
shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace, and above ALL, take the shield
of FAITH wherever we go!
Our struggle
is not against “flesh and blood” (v12), rather we fight a CONSTANT spiritual
battle (Spiritual wickedness in high places)!
When we realize that our battles are fought in another REALM, we find the
TOOLS OF BATTLE we benefit from are different than TOOLS we are accustomed
to. Prayer, Bible Study, and spending
time alone with GOD ALMIGHTY are essential TOOLS that must be honed to live a VICTORIOUS
CHRISTIAN LIFE!
I would like
to be known as someone who is a STRONG and STEADY warrior for my KING! My “puppies” can go spastic and calm later to
their hearts desire. My desire is to demonstrate
a life that has experienced a PERMANENT CHANGE with TOOLS that are not of this
fast paced world. Rather a world of a
different pace, a DIFFERENT REALM!
