"16 JESUS said to her, "Go, call your husband, and come here."
17 The woman answered HIM, "I have no husband." JESUS said to her, "You are right in saying, 'I have no husband';
18 for you have had five husbands, and the one you now have is not your husband. What you have said is true."
19 The woman said to HIM, "Sir, I perceive that YOU are a prophet.
20 Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, but YOU say that in Jerusalem is the place where people ought to worship."
21 JESUS said to her, "Woman, believe ME, the hour is coming when neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the FATHER.
22 You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, for salvation is from the Jews.
23 But the hour is coming, and IS HERE NOW, when the true worshipers will worship the FATHER in spirit and truth, for the FATHER is seeking such people to worship HIM.
24 "GOD IS SPIRIT", and those who worship HIM must worship in spirit and truth."
25 The woman said to HIM, "I know that MESSIAH is coming (he who is called CHRIST). When HE comes, HE will tell us all things."
26 JESUS said to her, "I who speak to you am HE."
Albert Einstein has been credited with the saying "Coincidence is God's way of remaining anonymous"! There are FAR too many things just in my life that have occurred to believe that they just happened". The situation recorded in the scripture above is one of those scenarios that everything had to happen JUST RIGHT! It is no coincidence that everything worked out the way it did.
The disciples of JESUS had gone away into the city to buy food (John 4:8). This left JESUS at the well by HIMSELF with no way to get water out of the well. A Samaritan woman came to the well to draw water. JESUS asked her for a drink. Now think about this, had JESUS wanted water HE could have spoken a vessel into existence! HE didn't need the woman to provide HIM anything. HE only asked the woman for water in order to glorify GOD. HE wanted to manifest that GOD would quench the thirst that every person has, a vacuum that can only be fulfilled by a personal relationship with The CREATOR.
JESUS pointed out in verse 24 something I think is vastly overlooked. "GOD IS SPIRIT" is something that we need to slow down and really grasp. The enemy attempts to get our lives lived at such a frenetic pace that "we don't have time" to meditate and really listen to the things of GOD. The Samaritan woman was at the well with JESUS with NO INTERRUPTION! Some may say that this must have been a coincidence. Albert Einstein would say "Coincidence is GOD's way of remaining anonymous"!
The FACT that "GOD IS SPIRIT" should cause us to realize that HE sometimes operates outside of the realm of the natural. When "GOD IS SPIRIT" intersects with the natural we tend to call it a MIRACLE! Whether it is showing a Samaritan woman about her need for living water, or healing a leper, or making a leaky brain stop it's hemorrhage, GOD's presence is all around us. Our Spiritual eyesight may not be able to see HIM, but the evidence that "GOD IS SPIRIT" is unmistakable to those who their eyes opened. I pray I will ever be cognizant that when there seems to be no explanation, I will remember that "GOD IS SPIRIT"!!!!
