"WE SHALL SEE HIM!"

1 John 3:2-3                         (ESV)

"1 See what kind of love the FATHER has given to us, that we should be called children of GOD; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know HIM.

2 Beloved, we are GOD's children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when HE appears we shall be like HIM, because "WE SHALL SEE HIM" as HE is."

I see those who are dealing with painful experiences and think how do they get through what they are dealing with?  Then I see people who have made it through the darkest of valleys and have overcome their problems.  Then there are those who are trying to overcome yet another challenge, only to eventually surrender to a unknown enemy who we know as DEATH!  

When I was dealing with the DEATH of my younger sister in 1996 I was so hurt that I was unable to help her to be cured of the cancer that ravaged her body.  There are many things that I remember about her illness, but the one thing that stands out for me is what she spoke to her family from her hospital bed after they told us of her diagnosis.  They told us that the type of stomach cancer she had was very unforgiving, and that she would probably have a year to survive.  Trying to help her deal with the finality of her prognosis was the most awkward thing I have ever experienced.  But my 33 year old sister said something that continues to make me realize how mature she was....and I wasn't!  When speaking about her getting to see our grandmother (who she was named after) when she made it to Heaven, my sister replied, "I just want to see JESUS!".  

Isn't that what we all should be living for?  Shouldn't my life be more concerned about seeing the SAVIOR than seeing someone else?  Scripture says that "WE SHALL SEE HIM" when that day comes!  Our EYES will be opened and we will FULLY be able to SEE the price HE has paid for our sins and be able to praise HIM forever!  Revelation 4:8 says we will "...never cease to say, "Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!"  

We can miss those who have gone on before us, and I think that is only natural!  But when we get to Heaven we won't be doing what is natural any longer.  We will be doing that which is Spiritual, and John 4:24 says "GOD IS SPIRIT"!  Yes, "WE SHALL SEE HIM" will be very real on that day and EVERYONE'S eyes will be opened and SEE the KING OF KINGS and LORD OF LORDS!!!
