“DO NOT LEAN ON YOUR OWN UNDERSTANDING!”

 Proverbs 3:5-6                                  (ESV)

    “[5] Trust in the LORD with ALL YOUR HEART,

        and “DO NOT LEAN ON YOUR OWN UNDERSTANDING”. 

    [6] In all your ways acknowledge HIM,

        and HE WILL MAKE STRAIGHT YOUR PATHS.”

There are many times I find myself searching for an answer to problems that are presented to me from seemingly “out of the blue”!  Scripture tells us that GOD is in control of EVERYTHING (Ecclesiastes 3:11; Philippians 4:6-7), but until our EYES are OPENED and our hearts are receptive, we don’t possess the ability to SEE what GOD is trying to teach us!  

As humans, we have a “built-in” mechanism to try and seek out the best way to do things.  According to Scripture (1 Kings 4:30-34) King Solomon was “wiser than all other men”!  He is considered the human author of The Proverbs, but GOD “inspired” the BIBLE in its entirety!  King Solomon, in all his Wisdom, understood that SEARCHING for earthly answers was useless when we had GOD to rely on!  “DO NOT LEAN ON YOUR OWN UNDERSTANDING” was/is not just a suggestion for us, it should be A WAY OF LIFE!

A well known pastor recently wrote “Don’t look at God in the light of your problem. Look at your problem in the light of God”!  “DO NOT LEAN ON YOUR OWN UNDERSTANDING” might have been used to send the same message???  If ALMIGHTY GOD “inspired” the wisest man HE created to write “DO NOT LEAN ON YOUR OWN UNDERSTANDING”, shouldn’t we listen to HIM???
