“YOU HAVE ONLY TO BE SILENT!”

 

Exodus 14:14-18                       (ESV)

“[14] The LORD WILL fight for you, and “YOU HAVE ONLY TO BE SILENT”.”

[15] The LORD said to Moses, “Why do you cry to ME? Tell the people of Israel to go forward. [16] Lift up your staff, and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it, that the people of Israel may go through the sea on dry ground. [17] And I WILL  harden the hearts of the Egyptians so that they shall go in after them, and I WILL get glory over Pharaoh and all his host, his chariots, and his horsemen. [18] And the Egyptians shall know that I AM THE LORD, when I have gotten glory over Pharaoh, his chariots, and his horsemen.””

Understanding that I wrote with the same focal passages of Scripture yesterday, it was difficult to write using the same verses again today!  The AMAZING thing about Scripture about the entire BIBLE is that 

“the word of GOD is LIVING and ACTIVE, sharper than any two-edged sword, PIERCING TO THE DIVISION OF SOUL AND SPIRIT, of joints and of marrow, and DISCERNING THE THOUGHTS AND INTENTIONS OF THE HEART.” (Hebrews 4:12)!  GOD is able to use HIS WORD multiple times in various ways to accomplish HIS PURPOSE, even through man might not UNDERSTAND???

In the text above, the Children of Israel were about to SEE GOD perform a work that has never been precisely duplicated.  And what was required of them to witness this MAJESTIC WORK OF GOD?  “YOU HAVE ONLY TO BE SILENT”!  

Speaking from personal experience, the most difficult thing for me to surrender to is KEEPING MY MOUTH SHUT!  When my EYES observe a wrong being committed, the most immediate response is to admonish or correct the wrong!  Most often though, the correction I want to see does NOT accomplish results that GLORIFY ALMIGHTY GOD!  We (mainly I) do not SEE what GOD can accomplish through HIS WORD enough to TRUST HIM with the results.  The Children of Israel were COMMANDED to “YOU HAVE ONLY TO BE SILENT” purposely, maybe so that GOD wouldn’t share HIS GLORY with what HE was about to accomplish?!?

“Pharaoh and all his host” was the most formidable “earthly” foe known to man at the time.  GOD made a statement for ALL to SEE, HE doesn’t require any assistance to accomplish HIS PLAN!  HE does use our abilities from time to time, but HE isn’t REQUIRED to do so!  Observing my past, I can SEE that when ALMIGHTY GOD does HIS GREATEST WORK is when HE has me QUIET!  For over 17 days in 2007 I didn’t speak a word (to my knowledge)!  “YOU HAVE ONLY TO BE SILENT” wasn’t an option, maybe because I would want to “share in the glory” (Isaiah 42:8) of my recovery?  YAHWEH continues to WORK on this humble servant to this day!  “YOU HAVE ONLY TO BE SILENT”!!!
