“YOU HAVE ONLY TO BE SILENT!”

 Exodus 14:14-18                       (ESV)

“[14] The LORD WILL fight for you, and “YOU HAVE ONLY TO BE SILENT”.”

[15] The LORD said to Moses, “Why do you cry to ME? Tell the people of Israel to go forward. [16] Lift up your staff, and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it, that the people of Israel may go through the sea on dry ground. [17] And I WILL  harden the hearts of the Egyptians so that they shall go in after them, and I WILL get glory over Pharaoh and all his host, his chariots, and his horsemen. [18] And the Egyptians shall know that I AM THE LORD, when I have gotten glory over Pharaoh, his chariots, and his horsemen.””

How many times in my younger, less Spiritually mature days, have I observed “a problem” and considered my responsibility to address proper corrections to “the problem”?  Thankfully, as I have aged I am growing more and more dependent upon THE LORD to convict AND CHANGE humanity as only HE IS ABLE to accomplish. From personal experience, nothing impacts people’s behavior as when the HOLY SPIRIT convicts and change La their heart!  

Although “The LORD will fight for you, and “YOU HAVE ONLY TO BE SILENT”” is on my PRAYER LIST page, I was still searching Scripture recently for AN ANSWER to a situation where I found myself.  It was almost “shameful” that Exodus 14:14 was brought to my memory as I have used this verse numerous times over the years as a reminder that ALMIGHTY GOD doesn’t require my assistance AT BEING GOD!  

Noticing when GOD says “I WILL” in the Scriptures above, HE could have just as easily said “I MIGHT”!  HE doesn’t leave any chance for Moses to misunderstand HIS intentions.  HIS PURPOSE was to have the Egyptians “know that I AM THE LORD, when I have gotten glory over Pharaoh, his chariots, and his horsemen”, and HE wanted to receive ALL of the GLORY for HIS HANDIWORK!  The Egyptians were shocked and amazed when “the LORD threw the Egyptians into the midst of the Sea” (Exodus 14:27)!  Scripture doesn’t indicate that the Egyptians were forewarned regarding their impending doom, but it happened, just as certain as death to the unbelievers! 

And what did the Children of Israel have to do to accomplish this amazing feat!  Exodus 14:22 says I’m part “And the people of Israel went into the midst of the sea on dry ground”!  They weren’t required to fight with the Egyptians before entering the Red Sea!  They weren’t required to sabotage the wheels of the chariots of the Egyptians!  “YOU HAVE ONLY TO BE SILENT” and allow GOD TO BE GOD!  For future reference, HIS results are PREFERRED, in my humble opinion!!!
