"LIGHT MOMENTARY AFFLICTION!"

2 Corinthians 4:16-18                  (ESV)
"16 So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day.
17 For this "LIGHT MOMENTARY AFFLICTION" is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison,
18 as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal."

As many may have noticed, recently I have been almost consumed by Colossians 3:2 stating "Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth."  The LORD is slowly convincing me that HE has blessings UNTOLD awaiting me, but HE can't release them with my mind focusing on the problems of "this world"!  The more I study the HOLY BIBLE, the more I realize how "undone" (Isaiah 6:5) I really am.  My focus must remain on THINGS ABOVE and not the impediments of "this world"!

While listening to a sermon on Colossians 3:2 by a well known pastor recently, I was exposed to 2 Corinthians 4:16-18 and was amazed how these verses overlapped each other with Colossians 3:2.  The Apostle Paul writes that we should NOT lose heart, though it appears our mortal bodies are wasting away, what JESUS has planned for our future cannot be forecast.  One thing we mustn't forget is GOD IS SPIRIT (John 4:24) and it is highly unusual to SEE a Spirit at work (John 5:17).

The things that are not seen (Spiritual) are LASTING and ETERNAL.  The things that ARE seen are transient, or temporary.  It has always been simplest for me to react to some adversity as a catastrophe that "I needed to fix".  But recently GOD has been seriously dealing with me with Exodus 14:14 which says "The LORD will fight for you, and you have only to be silent."  GOD allows some difficulties in our lives so HE can be glorified through our deliverance.  The children of Israel could only "SEE" the Egyptians about to overtake them at the Red Sea.  GOD "saw" HIS enemy charging head first into calamity, and no one else was privy to it!  GOD IS SPIRIT!

When we experience "LIGHT MOMENTARY AFFLICTION" we maybe about to experience GOD getting glorified through our lives?  The feeling of GOD winning is NOT something that gets old.  It maybe that we are called upon to be used for HIS Glory and to experience some "LIGHT MOMENTARY AFFLICTION", but rest assured, HE "is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison"!!!
